Chick Pea

Description

Chick Pea is a pulse crop, scientifically called Cicer arietinum. There are two main types of Chick Pea as Kabuli and Desi. Kabuli is large, light-colored seeds, and smooth coat (popular in Middle East, Mediterranean). Desi is smaller, darker seeds and rough coat (common in South Asia). Myanmar exports mostly Desi Chick Pea. In Myanmar’s pulse trade, Chick Pea is a major export item along with Black Matpe, Pigeon Peas, and Green Mung Beans.
Chickpea is gown in winter only and is harvested between February to April. The mainly production area is middle of Myanmar.
