Green Mung Bean

Description

Myanmar is one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of Green Mung Bean (Vigna radiata), valued for its high protein, easy digestibility, and versatility. It is widely consumed in Asia, Middle East, and Europe in traditional cuisines, snacks, and processed foods.

In Myanmar, Green Mung Bean is gown during two seasons. Winter season crop is started in October and harvested in February to April. Monsoon season is started in August and harvested in January. The mainly production areas are Kachin, Kayar, Kayin, Mon, Shan (North), Sagaing, Pegu (East and West), Magway, Mandalay, Yangon, and Irrawaddy. Among them, Yangon and Pegu (east) produce Pe Ti Shwewar, Pegu West and Magway produce Anar Shwewar and other regions produce green mung.

GBS exports Mung Bean to India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE, etc. via sea trade and Border trade.
